Dec 2 - Learn about fake pot in Tempe

According to this article you can learn about fake pot, synthetic cannabis, or the drug Spice at a workshop from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, at Evans-Compadre Academy multipurpose room, 4525 S. College Ave., Tempe.

Since it is put on by the government I suspect they will be demonizing fake pot with lots of lies! But who knows, it may be fun to attend.

Vote the crooks out!

Sadly every two years people seem to swap parties. The Democrats get into power because the people are tired of the Republicans stealing their money. So they vote the Republican crooks out and vote the Democratic crooks in.

Then two years later the same thing happens. Execpt that the second time around the people vote the Democratic crooks out of power and vote the Republican crooks back into to power.

If people were smart enough to vote Libertarian this wouldn't have to happen every two years.

Vote the crooks out of office

Government nannies will bring us higher quality pot?

Don't make me laugh! This is just a jobs program for government bureaucrats!

In this article a bunch of government bureaucrats in Colorado pretend to be concerned about the quality of marijuana that medical patients can get.

Don't make me laugh. This is nothing more then a jobs program for government nannies.

Anytime the government touches anything the price goes up and the quality goes down.

If you want medical marijuana patients to get high quality marijuana the only way to do that is fire the government nannies and let the free market do it's work.

Despite the fact that marijuana has been an illegal drug since 1937 the quality of marijuana has dramatically improved despite the government attempt to totally stop the use of marijuana.

And of course all those improvements were done by the FREE MARKET, not government nannies.

Visit Quartzsite Arizona

In the Winter Quartzsite becomes the 3rd largest city in Arizona

I should really visit Quartzsite Arizona. According to this article in the winter Quartzsite Arizona becomes the 3rd largest city in Arizona as 400,000 snow birds move there from the cold states in the Northern USA and from those frozen providences in Canada.

What is their go to in Quartzsite?

I don't know. You can probably chase coyotes. Or you can cross the Colorado River and gets some medical marijuana on the California side of the border. And according to the article there are lots of swap meets and stuff.

Is it getting warmer or did the socks work?

The last two days my bare feet froze to death in this cold weather. Today I wore two pairs of socks on my feet. It worked. I didn't freeze to death like I did on Monday and Tuesday. Now I wonder. Did the socks keep me warm or is the weather getting warmer.

Being a police officer is a dangerous job? No way!

Driving is dangerous, and because of that being a cop is a dangerous job!

Cops love to tell us that being a cop is a very dangerous job and that we should worship the ground they walk on because they risk their lives on a daily basis to protect us.

Well that is 100 percent BS.

Any jobs where you drive a car is a dangerous job. Simply because driving is a dangerous act that sometimes gets people killed. And for that reason being a cop is a dangerous job. Well being a cop is almost as dangerous of a job as a truck driver.

Of course the people with really dangrous jobs are not cops. They are typically fishermen, loggers, construction workers and farmers.

Fishermen, loggers, construction workers and farmers are the folks that risk their lives for us everyday, not cops.

Read more here to find out why being a police officer is NOT a dangerous job.

Friday Dec 3 - I saw a satellite

At maybe 6:30 or 7:00 pm I was talking to Dan outside his house and I pointed out a planet in the sky and asked him if he knew which planet it was. I think it was Jupiter or Saturn with a slim chance it is Venus.

About that time what appeared to be an airplane very high in the sky appeared. It zoomed across the sky for several seconds and then disappeared.

Dan said it was a satellite. I suspect it was a satellite.

A it was illuminated by the sun just like the planet I pointed out.

Of course it's orbit was so fast it was only visible for a few seconds.

Saturday Dec 4 - Another bike crash

I got into another bike crash as I was riding home Saturday.

I don't really know what caused it.

As I was falling down I realized Oh sh*t those handle bars are going to grab my elbow and break it like they did last time.

The good news was I didn't break my elbow like I did last time even though I landed on exactly the same arm.

It is now Sunday and the arm hurts but I don't think it is broken.

After the crash I didn't have any aches or pains on my body but it took a few hours for the pain to kick in.

It seems like my chest and left side took most of the impact from the crash and they started to hurt. I suspect it is just like when I got beat up a while back.

I sure hope I don't have a ruptured lung.

But other then the pain I am in I feel pretty good.

On question I have is what caused the crash?

At one point in time I theorized that I blacked out. I don't know if that happened.

I remember as I was falling I thought

"Oh sh*t those handle bars are going to grab my elbow and break it like they did last time."
Maybe that means I didn't black out.

I was very away as I crashed on to the ground.

I fell off the sidewalk and into the bike land.

I scraped my big toe. But other then the scrape being a little painful it ain't a big deal.

As I said before I don't remember any pain until before I went to bed. And of course today the pain is much more, although it is bearable.

Arizona city managers make between $126,691 and $236,997

Do you think your city manages is paid too much? The lowest paid city manager in this list received $126,691 a year. That was the Yuma city manager. The lowest paid city manager in this list was from Phoenix and received $236,997 a year. If you convert that to an hourly pay rate that is between $60/hr and $113/hr, probably much more because they get a lot of other perks.

High tech masks for criminals?

In this article we find out that these high tech masks made by a Hollywood company are very effective in preventing witnesses from identifying criminals that commit crimes. The masks are so effective that several Black folks have been arrested for the crimes of White people!

Of course the real problem isn't the masks. The problem is that statements from witnesses to the crime are taken as facts cast in stone, when in reality what witnesses remember about a crime is frequently inaccurate and wrong.

Are you an incompetent crook? You will do great as a Federal Prosecutor

You are innocent and expect a fair trial? Don't make me laugh!

According to this article if you are a crook or an incompetent moron you will have a great career as a Federal prosecutor. Don't worry! You can screw up all you want. Hell you can even commit felonies and violate the civil rights of the people your terrorizing and at most you will get a slap on the wrist.

You are innocent and expect a fair trial? Don't make me laugh!

At worst you will probably be railroaded and spend a number of years in prison for a crime you didn't commit.

At best you will spend your life's saving and might beat the rap with out doing any prison time.

You want the government to make your life whole by paying for the damages they caused you? Don't make me laugh.

Phoenix feels record-breaking temperatures

by Eddi Trevizo - Dec. 12, 2010 05:48 PM

The Arizona Republic

Temperatures broke a 60-year-old record in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon

The National Weather Service said the temperature reached 79 degrees at Sky Harbor International Airport at 4:39 p.m.

The new record tops the 78 degrees recorded in 1950.

"Warm temperatures are not unusual in Arizona this time of year," said Dan Leins, a meteorologist.

Temperatures in other areas were warm but did not break records. Phoenix might see temperatures climb to 79 degrees again on Monday, according to estimates from the National Weather Service.

The heat is due to a high pressure system that will remain until Thursday, when the high is expected to drop to 70 degrees.

Valley unseasonably warm while storms hit U.S.

Valley unseasonably warm as storm socks parts of U.S.

by Brennan Smith and Diana Martinez - Dec. 14, 2010 12:00 AM

The Arizona Republic

Valley residents and visitors are making the most of unseasonably warm temperatures this week while much of the nation is experiencing rain and snow.

Sunday set a record of 79 degrees and Monday's high in Phoenix soared to 82 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, breaking the previous record of 78, set in 1938, National Weather Service meteorologist Leslie Wanek said.

Cooler weather is expected by the middle of the week, with a slight chance of rain by Thursday or Friday.

Glendale resident Judy Crook was soaking in the sunshine on a visit to downtown Phoenix on Monday.

"I'm loving it; it's great. That's why I moved to Arizona," Crook said.

Crook, 60, said she moved to Arizona in 1982 from New Mexico and wouldn't trade the weather for any other kind.

"I like it just like this. I don't have to shovel sunshine, like they are doing back in Pennsylvania," she said.

Lisa Cope, visiting from Cincinnati, said she couldn't wait to get to Phoenix and was not expecting 80-degree weather in December.

"We thought we would sit outside, but not by the pool," Cope said.

Blankets of snow and record amounts of rain have covered the Midwest, canceling hundreds of flights and causing the inflatable roof of the Minnesota Vikings' stadium in Minneapolis to collapse.

Brutally cold conditions continued Monday, spreading from the upper Midwest into the East.

Almost 2 feet of snow fell in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin over the weekend, with Indiana also hard hit.

Of course things are a little colder in Chicago

Warming centers available, but no problems so far

By Jim Jaworski TribLocal reporter Today at 7:11 a.m.

As the weather changes from bad to worse, residents can take shelter at either Oak Park hospital to escape the sometimes-dangerous conditions.

Those seeking some warmth can go to either of the hospitals. Rush Oak Park Hospital, 520 South Maple Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or to West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Court, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. However, both warming centers will be available 24-hours a day in emergencies or extreme conditions.

Oak Park Deputy Fire Chief Ken Klemm said Monday they have not received any reports or calls for health emergencies due to the cold weather yet this season. Structural damage has also been minimal, with the only report coming from a frozen standpipe, but calls tend to come in when frozen pipes begin to thaw and break.

Public Works Director John Wielebnicki said the weekend storm did not have a large impact, and there were no reports of damage from the high winds.

Officials are asking that residents take precautions due to the extreme cold. Klemm said residents to be prepared for the weather by dressing appropriately.

But numerous problems arise during the winter, mostly because some health problems are overlooked, he said. He offered some less obvious advice, like making sure people stay hydrated. While dehydration is often more of a concern in the warm months, he said such problems are more common in the winter than people think, often because consuming liquid is overlooked.

He also warned against consuming alcohol for warmth, as it can often be a dangerous illusion. Alcohol dilates the blood and brings it to the surface of the skin. This causes a warm sensation, but actually makes the blood more susceptible to the cold, increasing the risk of hypothermia.

“Sure it makes you feel warmer, but it really has the opposite effect,” Klemm said.

Thursday, Dec 16 - Goldwater Institute

I went to an event at the Goldwater Institute. A 300 year old lawyer talked at the event. Despite being 300 years old the guy has some pretty interesting stuff to say.

He talked about the recent gun lawsuits in Washington D.C. and Chicago.

In both those lawsuits supporters of the 2nd Amendment won.

It also talked about how Obamacare lost in the lower appeals court. Lets hope Obamacare also loses in the Supreme Court.

It was kind of odd because when I went their the bouncers seemed to think I was a homeless person and maybe they wanted to throw me out because of that.

But they let me in, and I attended the event and had a good time.

I also got a free lunch out of the deal.

It rained all day on and off. Despite the rain it was not freezing cold.

Friday Dec 17 -- Fog!!!!!

This morning it was pretty cool because parts of the Valley were covered in fog.

In the worst parts the visibility was down to maybe 100 yards. That wasn't really too bad. You could still drive with out worrying about crashing into another car. I have seen it a lot worse where the visibility was only a few feet.

Yesterday it rained on and off in the Valley and that was probably why we had fog today.

Despite the fog and the rain it wasn't bone chilling cold.

We don't get fog that much in the Phoenix area. I am guessing we have it once every 5 years or so.

Phoenix fog advisory in effect this morning

by Diana Martinez - Dec. 17, 2010 06:58 AM

The Arizona Republic/ 12 News Breaking News Team

A dense fog advisory is in effect for the Phoenix area until 9 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory mainly for rural areas and open fields; however some fog will stay isolated in parts of the Phoenix area.

The fog may appear in patches, causing visibility to change rapidly. Rush-hour travelers are warned to slow down, use headlights and keep distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.

A 10 percent chance of showers is also in effect for Phoenix along with a high temperature of 61 degrees.

More on the weather

I had never thought about it but according to the graph below December is the coldest month of the year. I would have figured it was either December, January, February, or March that was the coldest month of the year. But I am really a hater of cold weather. I hate all those cold months.

I wonder will David Dorn call me a snitch for reporting on the weather? David Dorn is a creep who I found out was spreading lies about me calling me a government snitch. I don't even know the creep other then the fact that I attended 3 of his "Free Supper Club" meetings back in 1997.

Phoenix area weather feeling like December again

Damp, cool weather arrives after unusually warm spell

by John Faherty - Dec. 17, 2010 12:00 AM

The Arizona Republic

Something about December didn't feel right. It was nice; it just wasn't right.

December is supposed to be the coolest month of the year. And there should be rain.

But the first half of the month was nothing but warm, sunny days and crisp, clear nights. Lovely, just not very Decemberish.

Thursday represented a return to normal. A light but steady rain fell most of the day. And today actually will be chilly. The high should reach all of 62 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

For some transplants, even people who have lived in the Valley for decades, a holiday season without cold snow and hot chocolate will always be tinged with a bit of disappointment.

But the expected high today in Chicago is 23, Omaha is 24, Boston is 25, and Minneapolis is 15. So try not to call home to complain about the weather.

December is coldest month of the year in Phoenix

Arizona Department Health Services releases Medical Marijuana rules

In this article the tyrants at the Arizona Department of Health Services released their proposed rules for medical marijuana.

The rules seem like they were intentionally created to make it very, very difficult for sick people to get the medical marijuana they need. I guess the rules were written by police state thugs who hate marijuana.

The rules also seem to create a jobs program for doctors. One rule seems to require four, yes that is four or 4 visits to a doctor before you can get your medical marijuana prescription or recommendation.

The rules also have a lot of silly bureaucratic nonsense in them which will drive up the price of medical marijuana. For example any site that sells medical marijuana has to have cameras that will allow the government nannies to spy on the people that sell medical marijuana. Reminds me of the book 1984 in which the government spied on people 24/7.

Last but not least the rules seem to be written by the police, or at least the police were probably involved in writing the rules. The rules require that the police be given all the data about people that use or sell medical marijuana. Probably so the police can shake down people for accidentally violating the complex and trivial rules that government medical marijuana.

If you love the police state you will love the medical marijuana rules created by the tyrants at Arizona Department of Health Services.

Now altogether shout "Hiel Hitler, we love the Arizona Medical Marijuana Police State!"

Some high tech weapons the American Empire uses to kill brown skinned people

Thank God for jury nullification!

Sheriff Joe gets sued for violating the rights of judges

In this article Maricopa County government tyrants Sheriff Joe and Andrew Thomas are being sued for violating the constitutional rights of not one but five judges!

This is great but the sad news is that government thugs only get their hands slapped when they violate the rights of powerful government rulers. When government thugs routinely violate the constitutional rights of us normal people on the street they are rarely cited, and even less often given a slap on the wrist for their crimes.

Greyhound Bus Lines supports the police state?

In this article it sounds like Greyhound Bus Lines supports the police state and is allowing the cops to search the baggage of passengers on Greyhound Buses.

The myth that being a police officers is a dangerous job

Being a police officer isn't a dangerous job! Cops and their powerful police unions love to tell us that being a cop is an incredibly dangerous job and that cops on a daily basis risk their lives to protect us from criminal.

That is a big lie. In all the statistic collected by the American government on dangerous jobs police officers rarely make it into the top 10 dangerous jobs.

The top 3 most dangerous jobs are usually fishing, logging and construction.

Being a cop is a slightly dangerous job. But not because cops are risking their lives fighting criminals.

Any job that requires driving a car or truck is a dangerous job, simply because people who drive get into auto accidents, and auto accidents are dangerous.

But other then driving a car being a cop is a relatively safe job.

A clerk in a liquor store is far more likely to get shot then a cop. An armed robber will shot an unarmed liquor store clerk because the clerk usually doesn't have a gun an can't defend himself.

On the other hand robbers seem to avoid robbing police officers simply because police officers have guns and can defend themselves.

For more on the myth that being a cop is a dangerous job check out this article.

Tobacco is probably the most dangerous drug on the planet

Yes even though tobacco is probably the most dangerous drug on the planet and is the leading cause of death for human beings that is not a good reason to make tobacco illegal. If that happens all the crime cause by the "drug war" will just be replaced by a new crime wave caused by any new "drug war on tobacco".

Of course the government nannies in the US Surgeon General's office are probably not that smart.

In this article I am sure they are demonizing tobacco as an excuse so they can regulate it.

A welfare program for Chandler cops?

A corporate welfare program for businesses?

In this article the city of Chandler is subsidizing all the overtime paid to Chandler Police officers who work for private firms.

I suspect it is mainly a welfare program to allow the Chandler cops to get paid overtime working for businesses that couldn't normally afford to hire the cops.

On the other hand it definitely is a welfare program for the Chandler businesses that hire the cops and don't have to pay for the full cost of their wages.

Of course the only way to fix this problem is to privatize the police!

Privatize NASA - Damn right

In this article a private spaceship was launched. Wouldn't it be great if we could privatize NASA and cut all the government waste that is being spent on NASA?

Rubber masks for fugitives?

High tech rubber masks for criminals

This article is about some cool high tech rubber masks that are being used by criminals and fugitives.

Cops burn down San Diego Home

H. L. Mencken quote applies perfectly to this case! His quote is
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
Cops always seem to take molehills and turn them into mountains to justify their jobs and in this case I am certain that is what happened.

In this article the cops said they had to burn down a home in the San Diego area because it was too dangerous to enter.

FAA demonizes lasers

In this article the FAA is demonizing lasers and saying they can cause planes to crash.

I am not an expert on this but I suspect it is more of the FAA crying wolf to get Congress to give it more money and power.

Got money? You must be a criminal!

At least that is what the cops say! But it is mostly a lame excuse for the cops to steal your money!

In this article the cops in Aurora are using that logic to steal $190,000 from two men they stopped for a minor traffic violation.

The cops say the money must be illegal since the men can't prove they got it legally.

I wonder if the cops use that as an excuse to steal the clothing from hot looking woman?

I would sure love to remove the clothing from every hot looking woman I see by claiming that since she can't prove her bra and panties are not stolen that I was going to remove them for safe keeping until the rightful owner of the bra and panties is discovered.

Don't worry I am just joking. But I wouldn't put it past some cops to actually do that. And a judge to approve it.

Are you a crooked lawyer?

You will do great as a Federal prosecutor

So you happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and got arrested for a crime you didn't commit. You think your going to get a "fair trial" - Don't make me laugh!

In this article you will discover that you probably will be railroaded by some crooked federal prosecutors if you are arrested for a crime you didn't commit.

Don't feel bad. 10 years down the road an appeals court may reverse you false conviction.

Some cool toys to help the government kill people?

Wow an xm2010 sniper rifle. A new tool for the American Empire to kill innocent brown skinned people from 3,937 feet away.

How about a XM25 grenade launcher? This puppy will allow you to kill innocent brown skinned people from 2,300 feet (700 meters) away by shooting 25mm air-bursting shells at them.

And here is a cool SA-24 antiaircraft missle which is made by the Soviet block that allows freedom fighters to shoot down planes and helicopters used by the American Empire!

Clouds block eclipse of the moon

I have seen eclipses before so I didn't plan on getting up to see the Monday/Tuesday Dec 20/21 eclipse of the moon. But I did get up at about 3:45 am and I was sad to see that the sky was full of clouds and the eclipse was not visible.

I looked to the west and the moon was bright enough that you could figure out where it was even though it was not visible.

They are having record rain fall in Los Angeles and California and I suspect some of that storm came to Phoenix and caused the cloud cover.

Moonwatchers treated to total lunar eclipse

NEW YORK (AP) — Skywatchers got an early holiday present this year: A total eclipse of the moon.

Hanging high in the sky, the moon slowly turned from bright silver into a red disk early Tuesday.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth casts its shadow on the full moon, blocking the sun's rays that otherwise reflect off the moon's surface. Some indirect sunlight still pierces through to give the moon its eerie hue.

The 3 1/2 hour celestial spectacle was visible from North and Central America where skies were clear. Portions of Europe and Asia only caught part of the show.

The totality phase — when the moon was completely immersed in Earth's shadow — lasted 72 minutes.

Since the year's only total lunar eclipse coincided with winter solstice, the moon glowed high in the sky.

The last time this occurred was more than three centuries ago on Dec. 21, 1638. It will happen again on Dec. 21, 2094, according to U.S. Naval Observatory spokesman Geoff Chester.

Lunar eclipses are safe to watch with the naked eye, unlike solar eclipses.

The next total lunar eclipse will occur in June 2011 and will not be visible from North America.

How would you feel if the city of Mesa said that sick people were scum and that sick people would only allowed to buy the drugs they need to get better in the sh*tty parts of town.

Well that is exactly what the city of Mesa is doing to sick people who need medical marijuana to make their illness go away.

British Royalty Attacked

When it comes to royalty I think the French have a damn good method of dealing with them. It's called the guillotine.

I can't figure out why on earth the citizens of England tolerate spending millions of pounds a year to support the royal tyrants that suck their blood like parasites.

In this article it sounds like a lot of those British citizens feel the same way I do about royal tyrants.

Alluring San Miguel draws American retirees to Mexico

I think I should visit San Miguel de Allende down in Mexico.

Colorado pigs put snitch database on the web! Opps!!!

F you David Dorn I am not on the list. But I bet that won't stop you from spreading lies about me.

Any how the cops in Colorado f*cked up and put a list of 200,000 of their snitches on the web according to this article.

I certainly am against real criminals who commit real crimes that harm people.

On the other hand I am against any and all laws that make people criminals for committing victimless crimes that harm no one.

Of course that include all the "drug war" crimes, which are victimless crimes, in addition to being unconstitutional. And in this article most of the people listed as snitches were turning in their fellow human beings for these harmless victimless drug war crimes.

Glendale taxpayers get screwed by Phoenix Coyotes

In this article the taxpayers of Glendale Arizona are screwed by the Glendale City Council members who are giving the owners of the Phoenix Coyotes $197 million in corporate welfare!

Tempe steals money to honor honest people

Now ain't that an oxymoron? In this article the city of Tempe Arizona is stealing our money and giving it away to honor honest people!

How come Gods followers are a bunch of thieves?

This article says the Vatican Bank is mired in money laundering scandals.

How come the all powerful God of the Christian religion isn't powerful enough to stop the sins and crimes of his followers?

Well this atheist knows God is just a short word for superstition!

Ike warned ups the military industrial complex would take over!

This article says that President Dwight D. Eisenhower feared that the nation's burgeoning military power was driving its foreign policy. I agree and say it is a jobs program for generals, along with being a government welfare program for the businesses in the military industrial complex if you don't mind me stealing that term which people used frequently in the Vietnam war.

A solar chimeny to generate power

A solar chimney sounds good to me as long as they don't create a government welfare program to fund it.

Open immigration policies make the world a better place to live!

If you ask me the laws restricting immigration for all the countries in the world need to be repealed and we need to let people travel and move to where ever they want to live and work.

This article doesn't say that, but it is a starting point toward that goal.

Phoenix government fireworks tyrants

This article sounds like these silly fireworks laws are a jobs program for over paid government nannies in the Phoenix Fire Department along with flushing our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms down the toilet!

Electromagnetic Railgun

An Electromagnetic Railgun is a neat cool high tech way for the government to kill people. The only problem I have with it is that it is funded and paid for by the government with stolen tax money.

Why can't they fire crooked cops like they fire crooked janitors?

In this article we find that crooked Phoenix cops who have been accused of crimes and civil rights violations have been paid to sit at home and do nothing for get this 12 years of work. That is 25,400 hours of work!

In the private sector you get fired and that is it! But it doesn't work that way in government.

LA Times - Lets pretend to balance the budget

In this article the LA Times writes a story about how the budget needs to be balanced, not now but sometime in the future.

The dreaming socialists at the LA Times want to have their cake and eat it too.

Snow busts football roof

In this article we have some cool photos of how a snow storm caused the roof of the Metrodome Stadium to collapse in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

As a desert rat from Arizona I have never seen snow and don't want to ever see snow! I hate these freezing cold winters in Phoenix where it drops down to 60°F in the middle of the winter.

I hate cold weather!

Dr William Hamman is doing a good job. Maybe we don't need the FDA

In this article United Airlines captain, William Hamman and Doctor William Hamman or should we say fake Doctor William Hamman duped everyone into thinking he was a real doctor.

If this fake doctor was doing such a damn good job maybe we don't need the FDA and bowl full of other Federal alphabet agencies to protect us from bad things.

Feds want to make internet cookies illegal?

I will be the first person to support your 5th Amendment right and also think that you have a right to be free of the government spying on you.

On the other hand the government doesn't have a right to prevent private citizen from spying on you. In this article the politically incorrect government nannies want to make it illegal for web pages to create cookies and do other things which track your activities.

The all powerful FBI

The tyrants in the FBI think they can do any thing they want because they have guns and badges. In reality the whole FBI agency is probably unconstitutional because the Constitution does not give the Feds the power to create a national police force.

In this article the FBI tyrants think they have a God given right to investigate a dog mauling in New Mexico.

East Valley Mayors believe in "taxation without representation"

In this article the mayors of Tempe, Mesa and Gilbert are big fans of taxation without representation.

Those mayor would love for the state of Arizona to tax the krap out of people that don't live in Tempe, Mesa and Gilbert and give the stolen tax dollars to those cities.

I am sure their reasoning is that they would love to tax the krap out of the serfs they rule over but realize if they tax them too much the angry serfs will vote them out of office.

Of course taxing people who can't vote is a simple way out of that problem.

Tucson treats Hells Angels the same way Nazi Germany treated Jews

In this article we find an outrageous abuse of government power.

The rulers of Pima County passed a law that specificly is aimed at preventing the Hells Angels from buying some land they.

If the Pima County Supervisors where using their government power to buy land to keep Black folks from buying it the citizens of Pima County would be outraged!

But when they do the same thing to screw over the Hells Angels it doesn't seem to bother the citizens of Pima County!

Maricopa County housing agency under fire

I think one huge abuse of government is where local government buy homes and rent them out at subsidized prices for poor people.

I suspect this is one way local rulers figure they can get votes to get reelected. Rent a poor person a home for a fourth of the price they would have to rent it on the free market and they will vote for you for the rest of their life, or at least for as long as you vote to give them a government handout in the form of dirt cheep housing.

In this article we find out about some abuses of this system in Maricopa County.

In half of all arrests cops don't have a shred of evidence

A number of times when you read a newspaper article you will find a title that has nothing to do with the facts or the content of the article.

In this article the writer was demonizing Federal prosecutors for dropping half of all the criminal charges that were given to them.

But if you read the article and THINK you will see that in half of these arrests the cops didn't have a shred of evidence to arrest the people to begin with.

Of course the REAL problem is the cops will falsely arrest just about anyone that ticks them off even if their isn't a shed of evidence to support the charges.

Poop transplants

In this article we read about poop transplants. Yes poop transplants.

Chilli is the root of all pain?

I eat chilli peppers like they are going out of style. Hell I call chilli a food group. Because of my love of chilli I often collect articles about chilli. In this article scientists seem to think that the chemical that makes chilli hot also is used by the body to some how signal pain.

1706 all over again

In this article the Federal and state governments are shaking down people who claim to be contractors and forcing them to be classified as employees.

This is mainly an excuse so the government can collect more taxes and force the employers to collect taxes from these contractors.

The 1706 laws was part of the US tax code that was passed maybe 20 years ago to force computer programmers and engineers to stop being "contractors" and instead be employees.

It was mainly passed so the government could force the employers to collect payroll taxes from these computer programmers and engineers.

What part of "cut spending" don't you understand?

Most Congressmen and Senators are too stupid to realize how to cut spending? Not really!

The truth is most Congressmen and Senators want to pretend that they are too stupid to realize how to cut spending?

Of course they way they can continue to steal our money and give it to themselves and the special interest groups that helped them get elected, while having us dumb serfs vote to keep them in office.

Read more about his here.

How far would terrorists get with out the help of the FBI?

In this article we find out most of the terrorists arrested by the FBI were also created by the FBI.

These alleged "terrorists" are usually young suckers that the FBI duped into hatching terrorist plots.

If the FBI didn't entrap these alleged "terrorists" none of these terrorists plots would have ever gotten off the ground.

You can thank the FBI for wasting your tax dollars on these useless projects to make FBI agents look like heroes who are protecting us.

12 percent of adults in Arizona work for the government

According to this article 6 percent of the people in Arizona work for the government. If you figure that about half of the population is adults that means about 12 percent of the adult population in Arizona works for the government.

A $6 fee to get your unemployment check

In this article Chase Bank wants to start charging people that get unemployment benefits a $6 monthly fee.

I have no problem with banks charging whatever fees and prices they want to charge.

But the problem here is the State of Arizona is forcing people who receive unemployment to open a Chase Bank account so the state of Arizona can electronically deposit their weekly unemployment check.

Interstate Commerce Clause of the Constitution?

Nope make that the Commerce Claus of the American Police State

If you don't get the cartoon I have explained it here. The cartoonist is referring to the Interstate Commerce clause of the US Constitution, which sadly a number of Supreme Court rulings have said means that the tyrants who run the US government can do anything they want.

Interstate Commerce Clause of the Constitution?
Nope make that the Commerce Claus of the American Police State

Crosses for dead cops ruled unconstitutional

In this article we find out that Utah's Christian crosses for dead cops have been ruled as unconstitutional.

The sad thing is the cops are appealing that decision.

Charity at gunpoint?

If you are a Christian you probably are aware of the 8th commandment which is
Thou shall not steal.
but most Christian charities are hypocrites and think nothing of asking the government to steal money and give it to them like they are doing here in Mesa, Arizona as reported in this article.

Maricopa County "fireplace narcs" at work

The Maricopa County "Fireplace narcs" are busy throwing water on people Christmas day fires according to this article in the Arizona Republic.

I suspect this not not because they want healthy cleaner air, but because they will get Federal money when they sic their "fireplace narcs" or "chimney police" on the serfs they rule over!

Jesus don't these government nannies have anything constructive to do?

Free a drug war criminal?

This article talks about how many drug war criminals are being free by juries who use "jury nullification" to acquit guilty drug war criminals, because they feel the laws are either unjust or unconstitutional.

"Jury nullification" was a part of America's legal system back when we still colonies and part of the English judicial system.

Juries frequently acquitted criminals who were arrested for helping slaves escape prior to the Civil War because the believed the laws were unjust.

The same thing happened during the Prohibition when juries also frequently acquitted bootleggers, again because they felt the laws were unjust.

Bribes? Nope campaign contributions - Honest!

Ask the Congressmen who took the money!

It sure looks like these Congressmen and Senators are being bribed in this article. But honest they are just campaign contributions. Even thought they they received fist fulls of money from special interest groups, the money didn't cause them to vote for the projects the special interest groups wanted. Honest! Ask the Congressmen and Senators!

Videotaping the pigs?

From this article it sure sounds like the police are at war with anyone who has a camera and wants to video tape the police as they commit crimes.

In the article a number of people have been arrested and charged with felonies for videotaping police officers who appear to be committing crimes.

One cop in the article says there ain't no crooked cops on his police force so civilians shouldn't be allowed to video tape him and his crooked police buddies.

Abolish Drunk Driving Laws?

DUI should not be a crime?

Check out this article from Reason magazine which says that drunk driving should not be a crime.

Everybody Hates Obama

Everybody hates Obama? I guess so!

We finally have bipartisan agreement - Obama
We hate you - Republicans and Democrats

We finally have bipartisan agreement - Obama - We hate you - Republicans and Democrats

Obama will says anything to get elected!

Obama will says anything to get elected

Obama lied about all kinds of things to get elected.

Obama lied and told the gays he would give them equal rights. Obama lied and told the anti-war folks he would end the wars. Obama lied and told the Tea Party folks he would veto all pork or earmark bills. Obama lied and told the Socialists he would jack up taxes for the rich.

The sad thing is Obama is turning out to be a clone of George W. Bush and his rival John McCain.

If you want to fix the problem don't just vote to throw the b*stards out. Vote to replace the b*stards with Libertarians who will reduce the size of government instead of the Republicans and Democrats who will continue the tax and spend police state!

The death of Kodachrome Film

According to this article the death of Kodachrome film is finally here and it will no longer be possible to process and develop Kodachrome film anywhere in the world.

The only guy I know who used Kodachrome film is Ben Kalafut in Tucson who claims to be a Libertarian.

He claimed to want to interview me and from the interview I suspect he is a government agent who spies on Libertarians.

He seemed to try an get me to commit a crime by stealing money from people with names that are close to mine.

While he claims to be a Libertarian he sounds more like a Green Party member who doesn't have a home and ended up in the Libertarian Party by accident.

Even thought Ben Kalafut claims to be a Libertarian he seems to be almost clueless to the what the Libertarian platform is. Nick from Mesa pretty much smoked him out on that.

When he interview me he mention that Mr. Light on Liberty gave him the list of names that I could use to get free money.

No at least Mr. Light on Liberty is a nut job who hates Libertarians. At most Mr. Light on Liberty is probably a government agent spying on Libertarians.

I find it odd that if Ben Kalafut is a real Libertarian that he is socializing with a nut job like Mr. Light on Liberty.

1 in 6 gets sick from food poisoning every year!

Look I am the last person in the world and run out and ask the government nannies for help. But in this article they are right that a lot of people get food poisoning. You have to watch what you eat or you will get food poisoning. Hell even if you watch what you eat you will probably get food poisoning. I have gotten it at least 3 times while I have been homeless.

Quartzsite - Arizona's 3rd largest city in the winter

I keep saying I am going to visit Quartzsite Arizona in the winter but I never do.

Quartzsite, Arizona is a patch of desert just before you get to the Colorado River on the Arizona, California border.

Every winter it becomes the third largest city in Arizona when the snowbirds from the Midwest and Canada flock there in their RV's to get out of the cold weather.

For more info check out this article.

Where can you buy some marijuana?

Try the Chandler Police Department!!!

When it comes to being big time dope dealers the Chandler Police Department is probably the biggest dealer of marijuana in the state of Arizona?

And just why did the Chandler Police Department get into the business of selling illegal drugs?

Duh! To raise revenue!

Of course the Chandler PD is probably the most unethical dealer of illegal drugs in the state of Arizona.

It works like this.

An undercover Chandler cop will offer to sell you a few hundred pounds of marijuana for maybe $250,000.

If you take them up on the offer they will then deliver the few hundred pounds of marijuana to your doorstep and take your $250,000.

Of course the Chandler cops are a bunch of thieves.

After selling you the dope they will steal it back, keeping both the dope and your money.

The Chandler cops will then find another sucker to sell the dope they stole from you to so they can raise another cool $250,000 in cash.

Read more about this criminals enterprise run by the crooks in the Chandler Police Department.

Mesa cops lobby for a bigger police state!!!

If I was in charge of the Mesa Police I would tell them that their only job was to catch crooks while they were working for me. Well of course real criminals who commit real crimes, not the stupid victimless drug war crimes or prostitution and vice crimes that lazy cops make 90 percent of their arrests for.

If the pigs that worked for me asked if they could lobby for more laws to make a bigger better police state, so they could hire more stinking cops for their empire I would tell them not to do it on company time.

But that ain't how it works in Mesa Arizona. In this article we find out that the Mesa cops are actually being paid to lobby for a bigger better police state, which of course will allow them to increase their little empire in the city of Mesa!

FBI creating a bigger better police state!!!

In this article we find the FBI is turning American into a bigger better police state. Say Hiel Hitler if you love the police state!

Tim Weaver and John Wentling shoot the messenger

I suspect Tim Weaver considers himself a freedom fighter. But if you read this post he seems like more of a government tyrant that loves the police state! This is the third time that I think I have caught Tim Weaver telling lies. The first time was when Tim Weaver made a simular false statement and accused Kevin Walsh of "brandishing" a gun. The second time was on Erie Hancock's web page which I was told was created by Tim Weaver. In that case Tim Weaver said I won my lawsuit with an out of court settlement and received a small sum of cash! What a lie that didn't happen! Nobody but me and Ricky Duncan know that status of that lawsuit!

Peoria Arizona to fingerprint sick people

Unelected Generals to make rules on gays!

It really pisses me off when government rulers delegate their authority to unelected people that can't be voted out of office when they screw the people they work for.

In this case unelected generals will be setting the rules on how the military treats gay folks.

Just what can you do when these unelected generals treat gay folks like 2nd class citizens? Nothing? You can't vote them out of office.

No more government checks?

From this article it sounds like Uncle Sam wants to stop writing people checks and force all money transactions to be electric deposits. I suspect that means Uncle Sam will have better control over us serfs, because if they can put money into our bank accounts they can also take the money out. And track us down if Uncle Sam thinks we are a criminal. Hiel Hitler a bigger better police state is here!

Arizona Retirement System - A Welfare program for government bureaucrats

Well to be honest it probably is not a welfare program for the run of the mill, low level government employees.

But the Arizona Retirement System does seem to be a government pork program that give lavish benefits to police officers and elected officials who retire. For more information on this lavish retirement system for Arizona's elected officials and cops check out these articles which were printed in the Arizona Republic.

Tempe steals to give to honest homeless man

Dave Tally a homeless man found $3,300 on the light rail system in Tempe and returned it to the owner. Nice guy.

To honor the guy the city of Tempe stole some money from the serfs they rule over and gave it to Dave Tally as a reward. Is that an oxymoron or what? For more on this check out the artilce.

Cops can rig elections?

To be honest I don't think police officers have the ability to rig elections in Arizona. I could be wrong on that, but with the data I have I don't think it is true.

On the other hand when almost all the cops decided to vote a given issue and show up at the police I do think they can easily skew an election and cause it to go the way they want it to.

The reason is in a typical Arizona election often a measly 5 percent of the registered voters show up to vote.

Now if 90 percent of the 3,500 Phoenix cops decide that they want to vote for an issued in a Phoenix election because it will cause them to get more money in their pay check they can easily skew the election if most of them show up and vote.

Which is why I made this request for public records to PLEA, which is the government agency that controls cops to get the number of certified police officers in Arizona.

In this list we have all the police departments in Arizona sorted by the name of the agency. We also list the city the agency's home office is in along with the number of certified police officers in that agency.

This list is sorted by the number of certified police officers in each agency. As expected The city of Phoenix has more cops than any other police department in Arizona with 3,520 police officers.

The DPS comes in second with 1,196 cops. The DPS is a state wide police agency which runs the highway patrol.

Coming in third are the Tucson cops with 1,120 police officers. Fourth place is the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office with 930 police terrorists controled by the infamous Sheriff Joe. Sheriff Joe's thugs terrorize the Phoenix area.

Coming in 5th Place is the Mesa PD, which is a part of metro Phoenix area. Mesa has 789 police terrorists on their force. And in 6th place is the Pima County Sheriff's Department which terrorizes the folks in Tucson. They have 511 police terrorists on their force.

Last but not least I sorted the list by the city each police agency has it's home office in.

From this list you can see that a good number of Arizona State police departments are headquartered in Phoenix, the state capital, even though they have cops working through out Arizona.

Also most of the Sheriff's departments have their agency headquartered in the county seat of their county.

If you go thru the list it seems like having a police department seems to be a status symbol for many state agencies. The Racing Department has a police agency with 2 cops in it. The Department of Agriculture has a police agency with 11 cops in it. The Corporation Commission has a police department with 7 cops in it.

Last but not least I combined all 3 lists into this web page.

The "Commerce Clause" says the Feds can do anything they want

How can you free a drug war criminal?

In this article they discuss how to use "jury nullification" to free people charged with victimless crimes?

Jury Nullification has been around for centuries under American and English law. During the Civil War people used jury nullification to free people who were charged with freeing slaves, because they thought that the laws allowing slavery were unjust.

The same thing happened during the Prohibition when people used jury nullification to free bootleggers who were guilty as hell, because the juries thought that the Prohibition was unjust.

Wet winter storm sets Valley record

Posted: Thursday, December 30, 2010 8:52 am

By Michelle Reese, Tribune | 0 comments

The Valley saw a new record of .47 inch of rain at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Wednesday.

The previous record of .45 inch was set in 2004.

Rain continues to fall around many areas of the Valley, with some seeing in excess of an inch-and-a-half of rain so far, said Steve Sipple, meteorologist at the National Weather Service's Phoenix office.

Peak wind gusts hit 49 mph around 3 a.m. at Sky Harbor. Weather spotters reported winds up to 45 mph in parts of the northeast Valley, along with quarter-inch hail and downed trees.

Most of the East Valley saw between a half inch to nearly an inch of rain, with higher amounts in northeastern Mesa. The city's Kleinman Park reported .87 inch of rain in the last 24 hours. Fitch Park in Mesa reported .98 inch of rain.

In New River, north of Phoenix, 1.93 inches of rain has fallen since the storm's arrival, Sipple said. Other cumulative totals include 1.94 inches at Lake Pleasant, 1.26 inches in Paradise Valley and .98 inch in Scottsdale.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport saw a high of just 54 on Wednesday, well below normal temperatures of 66.

Thursday's forecast calls for a high in the Valley around 50 with a 40 percent chance of rain. The Valley will be under a freeze warning Thursday night and into Friday morning, with temperatures dipping down to the 20s.

Residents should take precautions with sensitive plants by covering them with cloth, not plastic. Pets, especially older ones, should be provided a warm place or brought indoors, the Maricopa County Animal Control department suggests.

Arizona storm: Phoenix-area hit with rain, snow in high country

by John Faherty, Glen Creno, Brealyn Nenes and Diana Martinez - Dec. 30, 2010 07:35 AM

The Arizona Republic

The first wave of a winter-weather system swept through the state Wednesday, lashing the Valley with rain, dumping deep snow in the high country and paralyzing Arizona's major north-south route.

Thursday morning, the Arizona Department of Transportation closed Interstate 40 from Kingman to Flagstaff and on to Holbrook. In addition, Interstate 17, Arizona 260, Arizona 87 and 89A have all been closed and officials are not sure when they might be re-opened.

Unless the major interstate routes are re-opened, travelers from the east coast heading to the Phoenix area for the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday could be turned back around.

The second chapter of the winter blast was set to hit the state today, as precipitation tapers off and temperatures start to plunge.

High temperatures for Thursday are expected to reach 49 degrees, well below our average high of 67 degrees.

Friday morning's low is expected to dip to 29 degrees at the official weather station at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport - cold enough to damage plants and even burst water pipes, according to the National Weather Service.

The lows on Friday and Saturday mornings are likely to be the coldest since January 2007.

"It will be very cold," meteorologist Leslie Wanek said. "And it's going to be cold across the entire state."

Wanek advises residents to cover up plants and crops Thursday as the rain will most likely subside before the wide-spread freeze warning.

On Wednesday, the storm hit hardest in the high country from Flagstaff to the White Mountains, where the snow began around noon. Facing high winds, blowing snow and ice, cars and trucks slid off roads across the northern half of the state.

By midafternoon Wednesday, ADOT began to close highways. As the weather worsened, visibility was reduced by blowing snow, and patches of ice formed on the road.

Snow led to truck crashes that led to closures on both sides of I-17 south of Flagstaff, stranding some travelers for much of the evening.

Officials said the big problems began around 2 p.m., when four big rigs crashed on northbound I-17, scattering across the road. Some were blocking the driving lanes, preventing cars from getting by.

Crash-cleanup crews needed to bring in the massive tow rigs capable of moving a crippled semitruck, but DPS spokesman Bart Graves said it was difficult to get them to the scene from the south because of weather and the traffic backing up behind the crash.

Officials closed the northbound side of the freeway at the Sedona exit and turned traffic around. Late in the afternoon, they also closed the southbound side of the freeway at Airport Road on the outskirts of Flagstaff in an effort to clear traffic and get aid vehicles into the area.

As drivers waited for help, the weather deteriorated. Officials were unsure how many cars were stuck north of the Sedona blockade.

Many southbound motorists were also mired in snow and traffic.

A woman who was 36 weeks pregnant and had been stuck on the highway near Munds Park was taken to a hospital by local firefighters.

Char Savage of Tuba City was taking her relatives home to Phoenix after a family gathering in Tuba City. At 5 p.m., she said by cellphone that she was crawling along at only a few feet per hour.

"I'm not scared," Savage said. "I'm bored."

No major injuries were reported. ADOT, the DPS and Coconino County search and rescue were working to check on stranded drivers between Sedona and Flagstaff, officials said.

Meanwhile, crews worked Wednesday night to turn the stranded cars around one at a time and send them back to the Sedona turnoff, driving south on the northbound side of the road.

"It's a very painstaking process," Graves said.

Graves said the DPS had been sending officers from southern Arizona north to help officers there cope with fallout from the storm.

Highway officials had been keeping a close watch on Interstate 40 around Flagstaff, but those conditions apparently deteriorated enough to trigger the closure Thursday.

ADOT also closed numerous smaller roads along the Mogollon Rim from Sedona to Payson.

Roads were difficult but passable in eastern Arizona, ADOT spokesman Tim Tait said.

Because road closures were expected to continue into today and were difficult to predict, ADOT encouraged drivers to call 511 or log on to az511.gov for the latest highway conditionsThe Coconino County Sheriff's Office warned of avalanche hazards in the San Francisco Peaks.

In the Valley, the situation was less dire. Rain began to fall early in the afternoon, and low clouds reduced visibility.

George Wood, a flight attendant visiting from Philadelphia, which is buried under a foot of snow, found a way to enjoy the storm at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.

Wood and a friend were sitting in the hot tub on the fourth-floor terrace with steam rising as the raindrops fell

"This is lovely. What else are you going to do when the weather looks like this?" Wood, 56, said with a smile. "I've been to Phoenix many times, and I've never seen it like this before."

Arizona winter storm: Freezing temperatures to rock Phoenix-area residents

by John Faherty, Diana Martinez, Jordan Johnson and Alexander Foote - Dec. 31, 2010 12:00 AM

The Arizona Republic

New Year's Eve is for parades and parties and should end, ideally, with a kiss.

Instead, today is likely to be spent covering plants and making sure pipes are not frozen.

This morning's frigid temperatures are the second act of an early-winter drama that has rocked Arizona since Wednesday, snarling high-country roadways, leaving travelers stranded in Flagstaff and along the interstates, and even dropping a rare sprinkling of snow in the Valley. People played and took photographs, and then it was gone.

The National Weather Service was forecasting a low of 29 degrees for early this morning, followed by a high of 47. Both numbers are well below normal.

Saturday will be about the same. The last time the Valley had two consecutive days with lows in the 20s was Jan. 14-15, 2007.

Thursday began with the Arizona Department of Transportation trying to get Interstates 17 and 40 cleared.

Some drivers were stranded for hours on roads hit by high winds and heavy snow, more than a foot in the Flagstaff area. By the middle of the day, all lanes on both freeways were open again. But later in the day, U.S. 60 was closed between Globe and Show Low.

The same storm dropped more than half an inch of rain in Phoenix.

The two weather systems - the wet one and cold one - combined in the Valley for a short period around noon Thursday.

The result was a brief stretch of "snow" in Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, Anthem, east Mesa and elsewhere.

Tommy Leclere, manager of Carlsbad Tavern restaurant near Hayden and Osborn roads, said pea-size snowflakes began falling just after noon and lasted for about 15 minutes.

Leclere said that children ran outside to see it and that customers took out cellphones to record it.

"Even my kitchen staff went out to take pictures," Leclere said. "Good thing we weren't too busy."

Residents of Cave Creek saw snow come down around the same time. Town Clerk Carrie Dyrek said it came down for about a minute or two.

"Then, the sun peeked through and it was gone," she said.

The Weather Service confirmed the flurries but hedged its bets, saying what fell could have been graupel. That's a mixture of hail and snow. But it looks like snow.

All that moisture was pushed out by the approaching cold front.

Municipalities and plumbing companies offered advice on how to prevent pipes from freezing.

Scottsdale was advising residents to insulate pipes with blankets or even carpeting.

Colleen Tansey, a customer-care representative with Parker and Sons, said in areas that get particularly cold, residents should leave small amount of water trickling through pipes to prevent freezing and cracking.

Brian McQuistion, a general manager for George Brazil Services, said residents can also protect pipes by wrapping them with rubber-insulation tubes or blankets and joining the ends with duct tape.

Local plant nurseries have been taking measures, too.

"We've just been covering whatever we can," said Joel Harris, sales person at Berridge Nursery in Phoenix.

Frost cloth, an insulating fabric for plants, has been selling out from most Valley nurseries.

"For the past two days, it's the only thing people have been talking about," Harris said.

People without homes had more pressing issues.

Irene Agustine, director of development with Central Arizona Shelter Services, said the shelter opened overflow beds to accommodate an influx of individuals who may be homeless or in need of a warm place to sleep.

"Typically when temperatures dip below 40 degrees, we open up those extra beds," she said.

Agustine also said the shelter is not turning people away and is equipped to bring out an additional 200 beds, if necessary.

CASS was looking for donations of blankets and people to provide on-call help at the shelter.

Jerry Castro, manager of food services at St. Vincent de Paul Charity of Phoenix, said his organization was working with CASS and St. Vincent and was planning to open up its dining room to house an influx of guests hoping to escape the cold weather.

Up in Flagstaff, the snowstorm is probably going to be good news for the tourism industry.

During the storm, some people were unable to reach Flagstaff, but they were offset by people unable to leave it.

At the 247-room Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, the reservations department was busy.

"I've got some guests extending their stay," said Fred Reese, general manager of the hotel.

Some visitors canceled reservations when they couldn't get to town. The hotel had 239 reservations in place for New Year's Eve on Thursday morning, but then, the number dropped to 223.

"But believe me," Reese said, "that number will go up once word gets out that the weather has cleared and the snow conditions are perfect."

People staying in the Valley will not be able to find relief in front of the fireplace.

Because of concerns about high particulate matter in the air, the Maricopa County Air Quality Department issued a "no-burn day" restriction throughout the weekend for residences and businesses.

Republic reporter Phillip Haldiman contributed to this article.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow -- in Mesa?

So much for escaping to Arizona in the winter to avoid snow.

Snow is falling in parts of the East Valley this afternoon - and some elected leaders usually extolling the state's sunshine are tweeting away about the unusual sight.

Mesa Mayor Scott Smith joked on Twitter that he's calling out the snow plows.

"Wait," he followed up in his tweet. "We don't have any snow plows! Guess you're on your own."

Mesa Councilwoman Dina Higgins sent a tweet that snow is falling in her east Mesa backyard. A photo shows flakes in the air and landing on a man's dark clothing.

Arizona homeless shelters busy as temperatures drop

by Mark Carlson - Dec. 31, 2010 11:50 AM

Associated Press

PHOENIX - The cold weather is prompting more of Arizona's homeless to bring in the new year safe and warm inside shelters across the Phoenix and Tucson areas.

About 1,100 people spent Friday morning at facilities run by Central Arizona Shelter Services in Phoenix and a like number were expected do the same overnight Saturday.

"We heard that the weather is going to be bad for the next week," said Irene Augustine, director of development at CASS, in an interview with The Associated Press. "We're going to be prepared for that."

More than 100 men stayed at Salvation Army shelters in Tucson on Friday morning as a hard freeze drove down temperatures in southern Arizona.

To help keep homeless men and women warm, the shelters are putting out an urgent call for gloves and shoes.

"They are asking us for gloves. We have no gloves. Gloves are the big item," said Yoli Hasler, shelter program manager.

Other Tucson shelters, including the Flowing Wells Assembly of God and the Gospel Rescue Mission, are braced for more homeless people New Year's morning.

"We're dealing with them all day and all night. There's no day off for homelessness, that's for sure," said Pastor Roy Tullgren, the executive director of Tucson's Gospel Rescue Mission.

The morning low temperature in Tucson on Friday was 25 degrees and was expected to be in the 20's again New Year's morning.

"It looks like it will be just as cold again and may even continue even with another night in the 20s Sunday morning," said Chris Rasmussen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

"It's definitely a dangerous thing for them."

Phoenix area to see more cold Sat. night

by Amy B Wang - Jan. 1, 2011 09:59 AM

The Arizona Republic

Phoenix-area residents looking for warmer weather in 2011 likely will have to wait one more day, weather officials said.

The National Weather Service is planning to issue another freeze warning for the Phoenix area from 9 p.m. tonight to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Temperatures at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport dropped to a low of 30 degrees around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The high for Saturday will be 49 degrees, said Keith Kincaid, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. That's "significantly lower" than the average high for this time of year, which is 66 degrees, he said.

However, the Valley should begin warming up gradually on Monday, with lows around 40 and highs in the low- to mid-60s through Friday, Kincaid said.

Valley revelers braved New Year's Eve in the freezing cold, with temperatures in the 30s on late Friday night and early Saturday morning, officials said.

Homeless people packed shelters in Phoenix and around the state to escape the cold. About 1,100 people spent Friday morning at facilities run by Central Arizona Shelter Services in Phoenix and a like number were expected do the same overnight Saturday. The coldest New Year's Day on record for the Valley was set in 1919, when temperatures dropped to 24 degrees.
